What this demo shows
A monthly subscription of $40 with a $100 setup fee, where the customer is charged only the $100 today. The first $40 is then taken on a date you choose, for example the 1st of the following month, and every month after that on the same day.
Everything below is built with standard SureCart settings. No custom code.
1. How the price is configured
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Payment type | Subscription, $40, every 1 month |
| Setup fee | On, $100, named “Setup Fee” |
| Trial | On, 30 days |
| Paid trial (appears once Trial and Setup fee are both on) | ON. Description reads “Charge the setup fee during the free trial period.” |
The “Paid trial” switch is the important one. With it OFF the trial wipes out the whole line and the customer pays $0 today. With it ON the customer pays exactly the setup fee.
2. Try the checkout
The store is in test mode, so nothing real is charged. You will see Subtotal $140, Trial minus $40, Total $100.
You can also view the product page.
To complete a test purchase: enter any email and name, leave “Test Processor” selected, then press Purchase $100.
3. Setting the first payment to the 1st
After the purchase the subscription is in Trialing status. While it is trialing, the “Change Renewal Date” action is not in the Actions menu. The field you want is the trial end date:
- SureCart, Subscriptions, open the subscription.
- Actions, Update Subscription.
- In the Trial box, click the date under Trial Ends.
- Pick the 1st of the following month, then Choose.
- Press Schedule Update.
4. Shop page width
Select the Product List block (the outermost block of the pattern) and set it to Full width in the block toolbar. That is the whole fix.
Compare: default Shop page versus the same pattern set to Full width.
