Demo for support ticket 1546988 (free local pickup). Each button opens the same test checkout with different books in the cart. The checkout starts with Canada selected, so the shipping options appear straight away under the address. This demo store uses USD; the setup works the same in CAD.
Setup used here, copied from the customer store: two shipping profiles. General (books) has a weight based paid rate ($9 up to 0.5 kg, $25 above) and Large book has a flat $25 paid rate. Book A weighs 0.4 kg, the Large Book 0.9 kg.
1. FIXED setup (the solution)
Both profiles use the same two shipping methods in their Canada zone: Canada Post (all paid rates) and Free Local Pickup (flat $0). Expected result on every cart: two options, Free Local Pickup and Canada Post.
- Book A only: Free Local Pickup (Free) + Canada Post $9.00
- Large Book only: Free Local Pickup (Free) + Canada Post $25.00
- Book A + Large Book: Free Local Pickup (Free) + Canada Post $34.00 (9 + 25)
- 2 x Book A + Large Book: Free Local Pickup (Free) + Canada Post $50.00 (25 + 25)
2. BEFORE setup (reproduces the problem)
Same two profiles and the same Free Local Pickup rate in both, but the paid rates use different methods (Letter Mail / Flat Rate Box XS/S in General, Flat Rate Box XS/S in Large book), like the customer store today.
- Book A only: Free Local Pickup + Letter Mail $9.00 (looks fine)
- Book A + Large Book: only ONE option, Standard Shipping (Free). The paid option disappears, because the two profiles do not offer the same methods, so SureCart merges them into one line using the cheapest option of each profile (0 + 0).
3. OPTIONAL: offer pickup to Ottawa postal codes only
Same two profiles, but each profile now has two zones: Ottawa area (Canada, limited to postal codes K1* and K2*) holding Canada Post + Free Local Pickup, and Canada holding Canada Post only. For an address whose postal code matches, the Ottawa area zone is used instead of the Canada zone. After opening the checkout, type the postal code and leave the field to update the options.
- Postal code K2P 0G5 (Ottawa): Free Local Pickup + Canada Post ($9.00 for Book A, $34.00 for both books)
- Postal code M5V 2T6 (Toronto) or V6B 1A1 (Vancouver): Canada Post only, no pickup option
Payments on this store run in test mode, so you can finish a test order with the Test Processor to see the chosen shipping method on the order.
